Registered Massage Therapy

Registered Massage Therapists
Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are regulated health care professionals who undergo specific and comprehensive training. In addition, they must successfully complete a licensing exam in order to practice. RMTs are regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, who ensure a standard of care is provided. 
Physiotherapists and massage therapists can work in collaboration to maximize pain management, promote healing, a help to reduce the risk of further injury.

The specific soft tissue and deep tissue techniques a massage therapist uses will help to improve circulation and remove waste from your body's tissues. Pregnancy Massage


 There are many physical and emotional changes during and post pregnancy. It is usually a time of both great joy and anxiety. It is common that women experience lower back and leg pain, neck pain, and even wrist pain due to the changes happening in the body during pregnancy. Sport Massage Therapy


Sport Massage Therapy is used to focus on the specific soft tissues used in each individual sport, to maintain and improve sport performance. Sport massage is used by professional athletes pre and post event, as well as through an injury rehabilitation process. Massage Therapy can play a big role in strains, sprains and even broken bones, by helping to break up scar tissue, muscle tension and decrease in swelling and inflammation. 
Pre-event: The major muscle groups used in the particular sporting event are warmed up and stimulated by massage therapy and stretching. This is a great way to get the nerve fibers in the muscles to start firing off and getting great oxygenated blood flow to the area. This will help reduce cramping and increase the range of motion.

Post-event: This aspect of sports massage involves more deep tissue massage, clearing out the lactic acid build up in the muscles by bringing the blood flow to the areas. This massage will also help regain the range of motion and help with pain you experience the day after a hard workout at the gym or the sporting event you have taken part in.

Reflexology is a holistic, non-invasive, preventative treatment modality that addresses the person as a whole. It utilizes specific techniques applied with the thumb, finger, of hand to the feet stimulating the various nerve endings that correspond to specific regions in the body. Reflexology decreases stress, tension, anxiety and promotes relaxation which restores the body's balance and its ability for self-healing. Massaging your infant (toddler or child) helps with the process of bonding and attachment. Bonding: is the physical contact that enables attachment to form. It develops feelings of trust, well being, security, satisfaction. The process of bonding and attachment is not always instantaneous and there are many factors that may interfere. It may be affected by health of baby, mother, or stress. Massage is a very effective way in establishing bonding and attachment, not only between mother and infant, but also between infant and father, siblings or grandparents.
